As senior leaders in Srila Prabhupada’s movement Jayadvaita Swami and Tamal Krishna Goswami had to deal with complex and delicate issues over many years of service, and there were times when they didn’t see eye to eye. However, Jayadvaita Maharaja emphasized how important it was to Goswami Maharaja for a respectful bond to continue between the two of them.

“Sometimes we found ourselves on the opposite sides of issues and that made our relationship a little rocky—and these would usually not be small things, either. They would often be major items, but somehow we would carry on. As I look back at it, part of the reason we kept on was that he made a special effort. By nature I was more negligent in that regard. I thought, ‘Whatever happens, happens, and you know, you just carry on.’ It was very characteristic of him to do that. In hindsight, I see that it mattered a lot to him to have loving relationships with his Godbrothers and Godsisters. And his was a friendship you wouldn’t want to lose.”
